and people wonder why my generation gets their news online.
OTHER PLACES TO GET NEWS:
Rachel Maddow (the sanest news anchor on TV)
Crooks and Liars (politics, with fact checking)
Jezebel (women, feminism, and the mass media)
The Daily Show (for media criticism and slapstick comedy)
The Colbert Report (for media criticism via slapstick comedy)
Any other suggestions? I mean, for the love of dog, the media is just crazy making.

I will suggest that from an unabashedly extremely liberal perspective, the main stories on dailykos.com are often a good source of news. Although sometimes they get a tad shrill, and for the love of pete ignore most of the anonymous diarists. But the main RSS feed is usually reporting things I find important about what's going on in politics right this minute. Okay, maybe it's not so great if I have to immediately spend 3 sentences disclaimering.
